Through Your Interface: 15 Days of Screenshots #15

See Saz's blog for more information regarding the challenge!

15. A fairytale image
World of Warcraft is often described as cartoony and looking a bit, well, fairytale-ish. Take a screenshot that makes you think of a fairytale - use Disney inspiration if you must! Feel free to edit this screenshot a bit to enhance the fairytale feel, or just get super creative with that in game camera!

I wasn't sure which way I'd post the last two that I did, but I ended up having this one as the fairytale image. I think it represents the evil side of fairytales quite well. I was instantly reminded of the view in the screenshot as I first saw the Chancel area in Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

And speaking of Amnesia, I'm definitely looking forward to A Machine for Pigs, heh. I guess it'll be a Mists of Pandaria kind of an experience - I hope it'll be as epic of a surprise from first hearing about it to actually playing it. I couldn't help thinking of Razorfen Kraul, if only a little bit.

I've actually reached the finish line with the 15 Days of Screenshots challenge. I've had a ton of fun with it, and I want to thank Saz for coming up with the idea. I've set my eyes on what will likely be the next challenge I participate in. Stay tuned!

12. Inspiring imagery
Show us something that inspires you within World of Warcraft. This can be a character, a person, scenery that leaves you in awe, or whatever it is that strikes a cord in you. The inspiration it creates can be anything as well: Has this character inspired you to roll a certain class? Does a certain zone make you long to write a story about your character adventuring through that particular area?

14. Place swap
If you could be any of your characters, who would you be and why?

As much love as I have for Nicasia, I'd have to choose Raleigh for this one. I feel that ginger and I share the most personality traits, but he also has some qualities that I'm really jealous of. I'm sure we'd enjoy spending time together considering his love for literature and all. He's a very peaceful soul, and manages to maintain his peace of mind and balanced view of himself in the universe despite the ghosts in his past.

Other than that, happy November to everyone (= the few that sometimes visit the blog). I hope you'll have a grand month.

13. A fond memory
Shed a little tear, grin a little grin, and show us an image that invokes a fond memory for you.

I'm skipping a day, but worry not, I'll post that one later. I just happen to have this one ready. I couldn't decide between these two very different kind of moments, so "screw it", I thought. I think they speak for themselves.

11. Profession of choice
Show us an image of you doing what you like to do best.

Nicasia and her Frosty Flying Carpet.

My longest-running profession of all time is Nicasia's tailoring, but there's nothing that really makes it my favorite other than the memories. I ended up with that one, anyhow. Back when I hadn't yet purchased WotLK and was stuck at level 70, I hoarded as much cloth as possible, to level my future profession of tailoring that I chose for the flying carpets. My bank was filled with them, and as much as I wanted to make space, I refused to sell those stacks of cloth. When I could finally turn them into bolts, and bolts into tailored creations, I was relieved! I also remember checking the auction house regularly for good prices of golden draenite, until I had all four (I think!) that the first carpet required. Good times.

If I was to choose Nica's professions now, I wouldn't go with tailoring. I'd probably choose engineering, because leveling it is so much trouble and I wouldn't be arsed to do it on an alt. Generally I choose professions that fit the character RP-wise. That wasn't the case with Nica, but I've stuck with what I chose.

Through Your Interface: 15 Days of Screenshots #10

Back to this challenge! I'm not yet very close to the end, but I've carefully kept my eye out for another challenge to accept once I'm done with this one. Are you hosting a challenge? Feel free to throw me suggestions!

See Saz's blog for more information regarding the challenge!

10. Your WoW crew
Who are the people you hang out with day in and day out? Do you only hang out with your raid mates? Do you have a small, tight knit group of friends that you hang out with? Or are you a strange longer who just hangs out with your pets?

I digged up some really old screenshots for this one! Enjoy!

A pre-Cataclysm hole!

I most likely wouldn't play WoW at all if it wasn't for that crazy drood. My bestest durid! We do loads of weird and crazy stuff together, and have fallen into a ton of holes (as you see above). Hearthstone is a good friend. Kidney is awesome!

Ehehehehahaahaahahheeihhhohihoh! I have much better pictures of Lanfranco, but I want to show him that I have a shot like this. Haha. The paladin in the background is a lovely one. Just look at his gear, it consists of like 333-346 blues. Man, that was long ago. It was also a very important time for me, because I stayed in a crappy guild for two reasons: to be in the same one with Kidney, as it is natural, and to be around Lan. I'm not sure if I've admitted that to him, but it was like that for a long time - it didn't end until we both got kicked... But that's a different story, heh. There's so much to say about him, so I'll summarise it like this: <3

You can also see Billx, a golden-hearted dwarven hunter in the shot. We recruited him to the guild when killing Omen that day. And nowadays he's with us in Menagerie.

You see a night elf death knight, too? That's weird, 'cause I don't.

Remember this, Mae?

The bear you see above is someone I know as Mae, our main tank for most of Dragon Soul and currently a very versatile personality. Despite everything I'm happy he's stuck with us. Sometimes it surprises me that he has. My journey with him is one of those weird chains that happened for an unknown reason, but I'm sure they were meant to happen.

I don't have individual screenshots of everyone I spend time with on WoW, so I'll just give a shout out to our whole raid group for being lovely and tolerating me. I love raiding with you, wiping with you and sharing the guild with you. You're the ones that made it our guild. And you guys are epic!

9. Your character's hometown
We all have the same starting zones where we begin our various quests, but where does your character actually hail from?

Nicasia from Lower City of Shattrath.

Vladan from Strahnbrad.

Raleigh from Southshore.

Milka from New Avalon.

Brothers A.D. from Strom.

Lower City, which isn't particularly fancy to begin with, appears to be the only one of them that doesn't lie in ruins these days. Also, happy September to all! I'm particularly excited about the month change, because Pandaria will be released this month.

8. Vacation spot
If Azeroth was the real world, where would you vacation to?

I've already mentioned in a previous post that I'd go to Grizzly Hills, but I'm not going to repeat that. Currently, as the summer is ending in the country I live in, I'm looking forward to the winter, particularly the start of it when the grass is still green but frosty, and little rocks stick to the ground and stepping on them makes a different, icier sound. The air is fresh but it isn't particularly cold, just below zero perhaps. This is why I chose Borean Tundra, and the shot itself is from Valiance Keep. I like the atmosphere there. Although I'm not a fan of water at all, I like the presence of the sea.

6. Favorite line of poetry/lyric
Most of us have a favorite poet or song. Give us an image that you think represents your favorite line, or what line inspires you most. You should probably include said line and *maybe* give some explanation/reasoning behind it, unless you're feeling overly ambiguous.

Right. This is a mission impossible. Music is no doubt the biggest thing in my world, and there are countless and countless lyrics I could call my favorite - it just depends on the moment. Therefore the one I've chosen shouldn't be considered my absolute favorite, it's just one of those that I really, really like. Okay, here goes.

Junior, you're a genious
You think with your mind and not your penis
(Damian Marley - Hey Girl)

I sense an influx of viagra ads.

5. Title of choice
Show us an image of you pimping your favorite title and give us a reason why you dig it so much.

My title of choice is Bloodsail Admiral. I did it together with Lanfranco and that's the first shot after turning the quest in and receiving the title. Grinding the reputation was, to my mind, a very important event in how Lan and I got to know each other better, and doing that with him was a great experience. The title is still pretty rare, too. It also reminds me of itself whenever I am to have something to do with goblins.

Below are a couple of shots of us on our way to Booty Bay to kill the baron. After killing him, we rode Lan's chopper to Darkshire and pirated around for some time.

And yes, the guild featured in the shots was a bad one. We left it long ago and formed ours after.

4. Greatest accomplishment
Proud of a boss kill? Excited about taming that rare? Over the moon about getting a title? Show us your greatest in game accomplishment!

I wasn't sure if non-full screenshots were allowed in this challenge, but at least the rules didn't say anything about that! So therefore I present our guild.

Menagerie is level 25 these days, the shot was taken to remember the message of the day of 1st of April. I consider the guild my greatest accomplishment in the game. I formed it together with two good friends, who are still leading it with me, and still have their original unique guild master titles among my own. The guild turned 1 year in the beginning of July and we've grown significantly during that time. It's been a rocky road, and still is, but I don't regret forming the guild and I wouldn't give it up for the world. It's become a great part of my WoW persona.

3. Representing you
Show us an image that represents who you are, either in Azeroth/Outland or in real life.

I guess this represents me both in Azeroth and in real life, in a way. In the screenshot you see me and a good friend of mine, also a co-guild master, Kinsey. At times we like to do silly things just because they are silly and serve no other purpose. And that's just how it should be.

7. Best screenshot of the year
Show us the best screen shot you believe that you have ever taken and why you think it is the best (content, meaning, how you framed it, etc).

I realise I'm twisting the order of the days a little bit now, but I just have to give this one to a shot I just took tonight. While helping a friend's guild in Dragon Soul, we found ourselves in a 'custom story'-like situation. (I also think it's quite essential to just have one screenshot here, so consider the first one the one that represents the title.)

Indeed, when we were jumping over to the platform involving Kalecgos, Deathwing suddenly went: "I am Deathwing, the Destroyer, the end of all things..." and got a little bit ahead of things, giving us two phases to deal with at the same time.

Let this be a tribute to what is by far the worst raid I have ever raided. But even in all that crap we can dig out good things. It's been a real changing point for our guild, and we've achieved a lot in the raid. But thank the Light, the Death God, Elune, the loa, Hakkar, the sha, the spirits, King Rastakhan, the Earthmother, the aspects, the titans, Cult of the Damned, the Old Gods, the deities and all the power of fel that we only need to go there a few more times!

2. Player housing
If you were to claim a place to call your own, where would it be and why?

It's a house in the vrykul village of Skorn in Howling Fjord. It feels like something that I know is me, and I don't have to wonder whether it is me or not. The building itself looks like those cabins in Lapland that I spent some nights in as a kid.

Through Your Interface: 15 Days of Screenshots #1

I have decided to participate in the 15 Days of Screenshots challenge featured on World of Saz. I've thought of doing so for quite a while already, but now that I'm spending my days doing more than just playing WoW, I don't come up with as much things to write about (boo real life!), so it's a pretty good time to do something like this. Since I'm pretty sure endless cries regarding guild worries would be pretty depressing to read.

I had a drastic change in my gaming equipment about eight months ago, but I'm glad I took the time to save all the old screenshots before emptying the older PC. I'm sure the difference in graphics in some shots will be notable, heh.

1. Favorite hangout
Find yourself perching in a particular tree as a druid? Have a certain hovel you like to hang out in on your undead rogue? Show us where it is, and why your character hangs out there.

Taken on an alt - I HAVE in fact explored Elwynn Forest! :D

Out of a several options I chose this spot - a ledge with a couple of trees, located behind Stormwind Keep. I could have chosen something more interesting, but the amount of emotion that has come out of me in that spot is great, therefore I ended up with this one. It's one of the most important spots of Cataclysm to me personally.

Don't worry, the other shots will be a bit more interesting visually!
